FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Sydney, N.S.) Mark Eyking, Member of Parliament for Sydney – Victoria), on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, today announced funding of $200,000 over the next two years to the Celtic Colours Festival Society in support of performing arts programming for the Celtic Colours International Festival.
The Celtic Colours International Festival is a premier musical event that draws thousands of people every year to hundreds of activities and events in communities across Cape Breton Island. Beyond musical performances, the festival also offers workshops, presentations, demonstrations and lectures on Celtic history, music, dance, art, crafts and community heritage.
This funding was provided through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF). Through this fund, Canadians have access to a variety of professional artistic experiences in their communities. It provides financial assistance to organizations that present professional arts festivals or performing arts series and to organizations that offer support to arts presenters.
Each year, the CAPF supports approximately 650 professional arts festivals and performing arts series, as well as other activities related to arts presentation in more than 250 cities and communities across Canada.
