For Immediate Release
(Ottawa, ON) Today, Member of Parliament for Sydney-Victoria, Mark Eyking, questioned the Minister of Veterans Affairs on when the government will fulfill its commitment to reopen the Sydney Veterans Affairs Office.
Our Veterans and indeed all Canadians, were shocked when the former Conservative government decided to close Veteran Affairs Service Offices across the country.
In my own riding, the Center in Sydney helped offer service to all the veterans in Cape Breton. The community was outraged at the flagrant disrespect that the previous government showed to our women and men in uniform.
Can the Minister of Veterans Affairs update this House on measures regarding the Veterans Affairs Service Office in Sydney, and all across the country?”
Following Question Period Eyking Stated “The Minister of Veterans Affairs’ answer revealed that we are going to be reopening the Sydney office, including the other service centers that were closed across the country.” Eyking continued “We are also hiring more staff to reduce the Veteran to Case Manager ratio which will mean better in-person service in Cape Breton.”
